Knowing When To Say When....

If you've auditioned for a show a number of times (gone to network, tested, etc.) and they are casting again . .... do you audition again or make the producers judge you based on your past performances? I say: if you really want the show and it won't hurt you in any way to audition again, go give them your best. If you feel like they are simply jerking you around to assuage you or your manager, don't waste your time. It's a tough call for working actors who want to maintain their integrity, but we gotta work, so let's make it happen out there!

I couldn't agree more. When I worked in casting, sometimes we really needed to be reminded of the actor's capabilities AND we wanted to see his or her abilities in a different genre. Maybe we saw the actor for a character role but now, we are going for comedy. I say, it can't really hurt you to get some coveted facetime with the CDs. Additionally, I've been in the room when an actor who we were maybe seeing as a "favor" totally surprised us with his or her performance. Look at every encounter as an opportunity for the casting director to get to know you and your range of work.
